  • India’s Bangalore International Airport Limited (BIAL), the operator of Kempegowda International Airport (BLR), has entered a ten-year partnership with IBM to support the digital transformation of the airport.
  • As agreed, IBM and its spin-off Kyndryl will offer IT solutions for setting up a new ‘Airport in a Box’ platform to improve the travel experience for passengers at the Bangalore airport.
  • The airport was looking for a scalable technology to enhance its operational flexibility in order to manage future growth in passenger traffic.
  • BIAL tapped IBM Global Business Services, IBM hybrid cloud capabilities and Kyndryl to meet such requirements and implement an architecture with a dynamic delivery model.
  • The new platform is expected to increase employee productivity, cut down expenses via streamlined inventory control, facilitate better utilisation of IT assets and enhance incident management.
  • It will also utilise IBM Maximo enterprise asset management technology to deliver AI-powered insights to optimise inventory management and total ownership cost.
  • The platform will utilise an open hybrid cloud approach from IBM and will be supported by Red Hat Ansible Automation.
  • IBM Services and IBM Global Business Services senior vice president Mark Foster said: “This long-term project capitalises on our proven ability to deliver a combination of advanced technologies and services that enable the world’s leading travel and transportation companies to innovate and transform their businesses.
